Hello My name is Lucy and I am from the UK. I have a wide range of interests including history, science, geopolitics, anthropology, technology and current affairs. On top of being a language teacher, I have also worked in a corporate environment and run my own business. I am a professional photographer, artist, cartoonist and musician. I've travelled extensively and have a passion for other cultures. My hobbies include making comic books, pottery, fillipino martial arts, singing, drumming and frisbee. Hi! I'm Sarah-Jane, a qualified, International School Teacher and Social Worker from London, England. I received my teaching degree in 2005 and my CELTA qualification in 2012. I have a Bachelors degree in Sociology, a Masters degree in Social Work, and a Masters in Special and Inclusive Education. Teaching is my passion; it's what I enjoy doing both in and out of the classroom. When I am not teaching, I love listening to music, watching sports -baseball, basketball, American football, athletics and tennis, riding my bike, travelling to different countries to experience the culture, reading Manga and watching anime. I have been teaching for almost two decades and am both PGCE (QTS) and CELTA qualified. I have spent the last three years living and working in China as a Head of Inclusion which incorporates English as an Additional Language (EAL - English for Academic Purposes, Immersion English and skills mastery) and Special Educational Needs. Thus I can appreciate some of the challenges that non-native English speakers face when learning English; as such I employ a range of methodologies to support language acquisition and mastery such as pronunciation drills, games, direct questioning, writing and speaking scaffolds, role play, listening exercises, error correction and gap fills. As an experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and Head of Inclusion, I know 'what it takes' to support those with additional needs to access a curriculum and make steady progress. My lessons focus on the four skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking - with the emphasis on speaking as its important that my students feel comfortable communicating.
